APPLICATION OF GEOSPATIAL AND HYDROLOGICAL MODELING FOR RUNOFF ESTIMATION IN LEBIR RIVER BASIN, MALAYSIA

Abstract. Non-stop heavy rain had happened on 15th December of 2014, causing flood in Kelantan districts. Approximately 250 victims three districts were involved and relocated to six temporary relief centres. A hydrological model is designed simulate the runoff process for a catchment area. In this study, Hydrologic Engineering Center Modelling System (HEC-HMS) Rainfall-Runoff-Inundation (RRI) modeling method used simulation flow hydrograph Sungai Lebir catchment. Establishing at using both models may help analysing large-scale flooding future. The use HEC-HMS RRI require data precipitation rates obtained from Department Irrigation Drainage (DID) centre. There are two main processes modelling stage namely calibration validation. total dates rainfall events process; 5, 2014 11, (Calibration 1) 15, 20, 2) which resulting low NSE value Calibration 1 with −9.806 −0.312 RRI, respectively. Whereas validation process, sets 1, 2001 January 7, 2002 (Validation November 16, 2013 23, have been used, that outperformed recorded 0.817 0.821, Validation 2, results indicate rate computed software not significantly different actual rate, it also demonstrates suitability estimation.
